Histopathological findings of the ischemic lesion of the small bowel. Venous wall from the mesentery to the submucosa showed degeneration (arrows) that caused ulceration and some other ischemic changes in the affected mucosa (a HE, × 20). Mesenteric vein showed degeneration, decrease in the number of smooth muscle cells, and narrowing of the lumen (arrowhead).
