Changes in laboratory indices of liver function and blood cell counts after splenectomy. The platelet count, white blood cell count, and hemoglobin value increased between 6 months and 5 years after surgery, and pancytopenia improved after splenectomy. Total bilirubin and albumin improved between 6 months and 5 years postoperatively, and the prothrombin time increased between 12 months and 5 years after surgery
